What is the difference between “Botox” and “Fillers”?
You are not alone if you did not know that “wrinkle relaxers” such as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are not the same products as Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane.
We measure wrinkle relaxers (a.k.a. “Tox”) in terms of units (u) and filler in terms of syringes(cc/mL). In terms of on-label cosmetic uses, tox is typically used to treat moderate to severe fine lines and wrinkles from the eyes up while fillers are used to treat the undereye, midface and lower face.
While wrinkle relaxers are injected into targeted facial muscles to soften existing lines and wrinkles and prevent future wrinkles from forming, dermal fillers are injected subcutaneously to help add structure, support and balance in areas of your face that have lost volume due to aging and other factors.
Essentially, fillers are designed to mimic your body’s own tissue to restore volume, while wrinkle relaxers do not replenish your subdermal tissues since they are designed to stop your muscles from contracting. In terms of results, HA fillers produce instant results while tox takes 10-14 days for full effects to “kick in.”
Typically, fillers last 6-18 months depending on the treatment area and specific product while tox lasts 3-4 months after which a maintenance treatment is recommended.
Can I receive another treatment during my Nutrient IV session?
Yes! Liquid IV Therapy is the ultimate multitask friendly service we offer. The most popular aesthetic treatment to pair with your IV infusion is neurotoxin (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) since it only takes ~15minutes to perform this injectable treatment during your infusion. We also recommend combining Skinvive Skin Booster with IV Therapy to enhance your overall results and hydrating glow delivered by both treatments as they complement each other well.
Will I see results with just 1 syringe of filler?
Depending on your individual features and aesthetic goals, you may need more than 1 syringe of HA filler to treat any one area of your face, especially if treating to “full correction” for lost volume due to aging.
We will always present you with a personalized treatment plan in (a way that will give you your optimal results) terms of “good, better and best” so that you have options you can consider with your wants and needs.
Our Aesthetic Providers are happy to still treat you with wrinkle relaxers and/or dermal fillers even if you decide you want less units or syringes than recommended, just be aware that your results might be more subtle than you hoped for. The good news is you can always add more!
*We will never treat your lips with more than 1 syringe of filler per treatment/appointment.
Are Botox & Filler injectable treatments painful?
Pain is subjective to an individual experiencing our services or treatments, so there is no obvious yes or no answer unfortunately. In terms of invasiveness, most of our services are non-invasive to minimally invasive.
Injectable treatments for the face such as Tox, Fillers, Skinvive and PRP Rejuvenation require the use of a needle or cannula to deliver product to your soft tissue and facial muscles. Typically, Lip Filler is associated with a higher level of perceived “pain” due to the highly vascular nature of your lip tissue.
The good news is that we readily offer topical numbing agents to help lessen any treatment related “pain” so that your experience is as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. Also, all our HA dermal filler products and Skinvive by Juvéderm are made with lidocaine so you will experience a built-in numbing effect when being treated with these injectables.
It is normal to be nervous or anxious leading up to your treatment, but rest assured we use high quality, small needles that are tolerable for most, if not all, of our patients. We also have tools such as vibrator bars, mini handheld fans & squeeze balls to help you relax.
Will lip filler make my lips look unnatural or “duck like”?
There are many factors that determine how your lips will look after a lip filler treatment such as: lip shape, volume, structure, the individual injector/technique and the specific product(s) used for treatment.
Our team of Aesthetic Providers (a.k.a. injectors) at Radiant Wellness & Aesthetics are equipped with extensive training and experience in HA dermal filler treatments. We will always take into consideration your natural/current lip features and your individual aesthetic goals so that we can choose the appropriate filler product that will yield beautiful, natural looking lips.
That “overdone” and “overfilled” look you’ve seen or heard of is sometimes due to too much filler in a short period of time, which can lead to filler migration. Migration can cause an undesirable duck-like appearance due to the product being displaced outside of the lip border, thus losing that crisp look.
If our Aesthetic Providers observe that you already have visible migration in your lips, we will most likely recommend that we first dissolve the migrated filler with hyaluronidase. In 2-3 weeks after dissolving we can re-fill your lips while feeling confident about delivering great results.
I’m not sure what treatments are best for me or where to start?
We encourage all new and existing patients to have a consultation with our team of Aesthetic Providers and esthetician if you are unsure of the bigger picture questions like what treatments, when to do them, who to do them with and why they will be beneficial to me.
Our consults are designed to be informative, so you are educated on our services/treatments and presented with a customized treatment plan consisting of recommended specific treatments, number of sessions and an appointment layout with options for flexible scheduling and cost.
Depending on your specific skin concerns (i.e. rough texture, enlarged pores, fine lines & wrinkles, uneven tone, pigmentation, acne scarring, etc.) we will recommend treatment(s) that will help to improve any visible or underlying skin issues while showing you the proven benefits.
Are consultations free?
Yes, our consultations are completely complimentary! We offer a 30minute “Skincare Consultation” with our Medical Esthetician and an “Aesthetic Consultation” with our Aesthetic Providers (NPs) to new and existing patients.
Can I receive treatment on the same day as my consultation?
Yes, depending on our schedule the day of your consultation, our Aesthetic Providers and Medical Esthetician are happy to perform your treatment right after as long as another patient isn’t already booked.
We never want to rush your appointment or lessen your experience, so please understand there might be a chance we need to schedule your treatment later in the day or for another date.
If you think you might want both in the same visit, please let us know on the phone or in your message and we are happy to add extra time to your appointment, so you have options.
Can I get multiple treatments done in the same appointment?
Yes, the good news is that you can receive multiple, different types of treatments within the same visit.
In fact, there are many proven benefits to specific combination treatments for enhanced results such as: GlowTox (DiamondGlow & Wrinkle Relaxer), ToxBooster (VI Peel & Wrinkle Relaxer) and SkinTox (SkinPen & Wrinkle Relaxer).
In addition to the clinical benefits, our treatment combo packages are designed to be cost effective!
Do I really need 3 sessions of skin rejuvenating treatments?
For optimal results, yes, we usually recommend starting off with at least a series of 3 consecutive skin resurfacing treatments, 4-6 weeks apart to achieve the results you want and see visible improvements in your skin.
After completing a package or series of VI Peels, SkinPen Microneedling or PRP Rejuvenation treatments, you can expect to need a maintenance treatment once every 9months or so.
Will I bruise (from injectable treatments)?
Depending on your body’s response to your treatment, there is always a possibility that your skin will experience bruising and/or swelling. The more vascular the skin tissue being injected, such as the lips or eyes, the more likely you will bruise.
If you are worried about bruising from tox or filler injections, we recommend using arnica topical gel (also available in pill form) on the area being treated/injected a few days leading up to your appointment and for a few days after. Also, it is best to avoid alcohol and other blood thinners at least 24hours before your treatment to minimize the risk of bruising.
Before special occasions or weddings, we recommend scheduling your injectable treatments for at least 4 weeks before to avoid looking bruised or swollen for your big day. We cannot easily predict your specific aftercare appearance, but we will always do our best to be gentle and thorough. Our goal is for you to be comfortable while SAFELY delivering quality, aesthetically beautiful results. Safety is our priority for our patients and staff due to the intimate nature of our services. The perfect set of lips will require our Aesthetic Providers to be as precise as possible, which means not rushing the process or changing technique.
Can I wear makeup after my treatment?
Yes, for injectable treatments such as wrinkle relaxers or dermal fillers we recommend you avoid wearing cosmetics like makeup for at least 24hours. For SkinPen microneedling, avoid wearing makeup for 48hours after treatment.
For chemical peels, wait 7 days to wear makeup for medium to deep peels (VI Peel) and 1-2 days for lighter peels (SkinMedica Illuminize peel). For DiamondGlow, avoid makeup for the rest of the day after your treatment and feel free to resume the next day or 24hours later so that your skin gets the most out of your treatment.
Do you have laser treatments?
Currently, we do not offer laser services for the face or body. We are quickly looking to expand our space as we continue to grow our practice. Laser services such as laser hair removal, pigment correcting lasers and skin tightening lasers will hopefully be offered as soon as we have a space that can accommodate these devices.
The devices and products we do currently carry though are powerful, precise and backed by lots of science and research. We have carefully chosen our service menu to be able to offer treatments that complement each other and cover a wide range of skin conditions and aesthetic goals.
Can I reschedule my appointment?
Yes, we understand emergencies and unforeseen circumstances happen. We are happy to reschedule your appointment-please call or message us at least 24hours before your appointment if possible.
We will always do our best to be accommodating so that your appointment date and time works best for you.
Do you accept payment plans?
No, we do not participate in CareCredit or other financing programs and our cosmetic treatments are not covered by insurance.
We try our best to be accommodating and mindful of each patient’s individual interests and financial concerns. Ask us how to save on your treatments with aesthetic rewards programs for eligible treatment savings, our package savings and cash payment options.
